With every bag purchased at Madlug, a pack-away travel bag goes to a child in care. However, what are our pack-away travel bags? Most children in care have their belongings moved in black bin bags. This is typically due to unexpected changes of home or unprepared placements.
Madlug’s pack-away travel bag is a 35 litre duffel bag designed to stop this. They fold up into a small pouch and they were designed alongside care experienced young people to fit their needs. The lightweight size of these bags allows foster carers to store multiple bags without taking up excessive space. Printed on the front is ‘You are incredible’ and ‘Value | Worth | Dignity’. This reinforces to children in care that we see them and love them. These bags have strong straps, mesh side pockets and a lightweight fabric. With also being water resistant this is an ideal bag for transporting belongings.
We have given over 100,000 pack-away bags to date across the UK and Ireland and we won’t stop there. By June 2025, our 10th birthday, we will give away 125,000 pack-away bags to young people in care.
