At Madlug, we started with a mission: to show every child and young person in care that they have immense value and worth, and the right to move with dignity.
Madlug stands for “Make a Difference Luggage.” With every bag you purchase, we provide a pack-away travel bag to a child or young person in care. Since our inception in 2015 we registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC), and in 2019, the Madlug Foundation was formed as an independent charity to focus on delivering the impact of our movement, which includes the giving of pack-away travel bags. Together, we are dedicated to transforming the lives of children in care.

Madlug C.I.C was established in 2015 as a social enterprise to tackle the issue of children moving their belongings in bin bags. Through our “Buy One, Wear One, Help One” model, every bag purchased helps us give a pack-away travel bag to a child or young person entering or moving within the care system.
To maximise our impact, we have created a new structure of a social enterprise, linking Madlug C.I.C and the Madlug Foundation around one mission. Together, we are dedicated to growing our community and delivering our commitment to giving back, ensuring that we provide meaningful support to care-experienced children and young people.
Dave Linton is a former youth worker turned entrepreneur. In 2015, he founded the Madlug movement after discovering that most children in care move their belongings in black bin bags. He believes that every child and young person has immense value, worth, and the right to move with dignity.
Madlug Foundation Ltd is an independent charity governed by a board of trustees. They are responsible for fulfilling its charitable aims and hold the Madlug C.I.C board of directors accountable for their bag giving promise.
